Renault Scenic ZEV H2 (2008)
The Renault-Nissan Alliance is continuing its work on prototypes of electric vehicles with fuel cell, allowing a significant gain in terms of autonomy but are more complex to industrialize and market heavily. Indeed, the deployment of this technology requires a rupture production infrastructure, transport and distribution of hydrogen (there are fewer than 300 stations worldwide in 2008), and a fuel cell optimized cost, including through the reduction of noble metals.
Based on a Grand Scenic, Scenic ZEV H2 was developed jointly within the Alliance. Nissan has supplied the fuel cell, the high-pressure hydrogen tank and lithium-ion battery. Renault engineers have developed the architecture of Grand Scenic to accommodate these different elements in the basement. The floor was amended and the vehicle was heightened by 60 mm. In the end, habitability initial vehicle (5 places adults) is fully preserved, a first for this kind of prototype Fuel Cell.

Renault engineering has also integrated electrical systems and electronic Renault and Nissan. The fuel cell system as such has a relatively autonomous electronic developed by Nissan, which was to communicate with a number of organs or equipment of the vehicle, as the dashboard, ABS / ESP, air conditioning, or airbags. All these benefits have retained their original performances.
Other bodies have instead been adapted to the new mode of propulsion of the vehicle, such as the fuel gauge which has become the indicator pressure hydrogen. The temperature displayed is the battery, and the tachometer gives rpm electric motor.
The Scenic ZEV H2 is also a vehicle to the driving pleasure incomparable: silence performance, dynamic times combine to behave particularly careful in line with European standards. Powered by an electric motor, the Scenic ZEV H2 perfectly reflects the feelings of conduct that can be felt aboard an electric vehicle, the only difference being the presence complementary to the brink of a fuel cell.
Despite his capacity as a prototype, the Scenic ZEV H2 akin to a "real" car, which could well be used in everyday life, both in terms of life aboard that performance. And he disapproves of water vapor.
Composed of a core and a single electron, hydrogen is the chemical element the simplest and lightest. By way of comparison, it is fourteen times lighter than air. It freezes at - 259.14 °, throughout - 252.87 degrees. n a fuel cell, hydrogen and oxygen are reconciled on both sides of a membrane polymer electrolyte. They combine to form water, the only "rejection" of Scenic ZEV H2, releasing electrical energy and heat. This electrical energy that will power the electric motor of the vehicle. A fuel cell vehicle is neither more nor less than electric vehicle that p
